Rocked by my experience of the motherhood transition, I quickly became passionate about supporting all women and their families as they navigate this life-changing event.
Initially attending the University of Idaho for elementary education, I changed my major halfway and completed a bachelor's degree in food and nutrition. My desire to educate was (and is) still alive and well, but I knew I wanted to do something outside the elementary classroom. Having learned so much about the importance of my own dietary choices and how they are linked to health, nutrition seemed the right path for me.
When I had my daughter, my life changed forever. Suddenly nutrition became so much more than general health and aesthetics. I was growing a human being, from scratch, and nourishing her with food my own body produced after she was born. I knew I needed to dig deep and learn more about how to optimally support both of us, which led me to the real food world.
Experiencing all the ups and downs being a first-time mom can bring, I realized I wanted to support others throughout this transition, nutritionally and otherwise. I attended birth doula training at The Birthing Inn in Tacoma, WA in October 2017 and less than a year later studied at The Simkin Center in Seattle, WA for postpartum doula care. I'm currently seeking certification for both birth and postpartum doula through DONA International.
Birth and postpartum is a precious time of new things and without the "tribe" we traditionally had surrounding us, it can be a time of confusion and isolation. Providing resources, education, nourishment, support and nurturing care, my goal is to hold space without judgement, help you build the tribe you need and become the family you desire.
